Barcelona Airport to the city: your options compared
Barcelona–El Prat is only 15 km from the centre, but the 'best' way in depends on your luggage, your group and where exactly you're staying. Here's the honest 2026 breakdown.
Your options
- Private transfer: fixed €55 by sedan (up to 4), door to door in 20–30 minutes, driver meets you at arrivals, free child seats.
- Aerobús: around €7 each way, frequent, but drops you at Plaça Catalunya still short of your hotel.
- Train (R2 Nord): cheap (~€4.90 or free with some passes) from T2, but T1 needs a shuttle first and you finish at a station, not your door.
- Metro (L9 Sud): ~€5.70 with a special airport fare, useful for some neighbourhoods, with changes and stairs.
The honest recommendation
For a solo traveller heading to a central hotel, the Aerobús is excellent value. For families, groups, cruise passengers or anyone with luggage, the fixed-price private car wins on total time and hassle: no changes, no queues, and a driver who tracks your flight and takes you to your exact address for €45 by sedan.
