LAX to Downtown LA: every option, honestly priced
Sixteen miles separate LAX from the Downtown skyline, and you can cover them for $10 or $150. The right answer depends on your luggage, your group and your tolerance for transfers.
The 2026 options
- Metro (C/K Line + connections) via the new LAX Transit Center: cheapest by far, 60–90 minutes with transfers; fine for backpackers, rough with family luggage.
- FlyAway bus to Union Station: budget-friendly and direct, but then you still need a ride to your hotel.
- Rideshare/taxi: $35–90 with surge and the LAX-it detour.
- Private fixed transfer: $115 sedan / $150 SUV per vehicle, in-terminal meet & greet, straight to your hotel, arena or the Convention Center.
When the private car is the rational pick
Three scenarios: you're landing during a Convention Center event or arena night (surge city); you're 3+ people with bags (per-vehicle beats per-person); or you're on a schedule — court, meeting, curtain time — where a fixed pickup inside arrivals is worth more than the fare difference. Business travelers also like that the price is documented in writing for expenses before the trip starts.
